Schools Prepare For H1N1 Swine Flu Second Wave

No one knows how bad the second wave of the deadly H1N1 Swine Flu could get – but schools across America are ramping up preparation for the worst flu epidemic in recent history. In Minnesota, health officials are predicting that 1.5 million Minnesotans will get the flu this fall and winter. And the school pose a special risk.

Other schools are stocking up on hand sanitizers, surgical masks and tissue boxes. A blizzard of information will go home to parents in the next few weeks via backpack mail or e-mail. Federal health officials have even suggested that schools suspend issuing perfect attendance stars and similar awards to ensure that students stay home when they’re sick.
